The protection of animals is the top priority on these tours. It is therefore not allowed to actively swim to the animals and the dolphins must not be touched either. However, driven by their interest and playfulness, the dolphins will swim around you and often come very close to you.

A variety of different dolphin species, such as common dolphins, Atlantic spotted dolphins and bottlenose dolphins, roam the coast of Madeira. Not all species tolerate people in the water. But most of them are very interested in swimmers and involve them in their game.
When swimming or snorkeling with dolphins, a speedboat takes you to the animals. The swimmers then go into the water and hold on to a rope attached to the boat. The slight movement of the boat encourages the dolphins to play and swim around the snorkelers in the water.
It is very important that you are familiar with using a snorkel and a mask.

The tours take place daily in the summer at 09:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. and 03:00 p.m.. Duration: about 2,5 hours. The tours start at the Marina from Funchal.

Because it's the open Atlantic and wildlife, snorkeling with dolphins isn't possible on every trip. You only pay the surcharge for the snorkeling with dolphins upgrade if it actually takes place.
Please already have your bathing suit on under your clothes and please also bring a towel and if necessary a sweater or jacket for afterwards.

Because it's the open Atlantic and wildlife, snorkeling with dolphins isn't possible on every trip. If the snorkeling with dolphins did not take place, you will be refunded 27,- Euro per adult directly after the tour.
A wetsuit is required for snorkeling with dolphins on the Stenella. You can borrow this one day before the from Lobosonda for 5,- Euro.
