The highlight of the Flower Festival on Madeira, which has been held since 1979, is the allegorical parade on Sunday afternoon. Carriages richly decorated with floral arrangements then wander through the streets of Funchal, accompanied by dance groups and children in beautiful floral decorations. The roadside is lined with thousands of tourists and locals who come to Funchal that day. In order to have the best view of this floral splendor and not to belittle this event by the long standing, stands are set up along the procession. Here you have a unique view of the parade.
