For those who would like to "sniff" into the world of divers, we offering the "Discover Scuba Diving". After a theoretical introduction and instruction in the handling of the diving equipment, it first goes to the pool to test the breathing with the oxygen equipment and the right surfacing. Afterwards you will be taken for a dive into the sea where you can experience the fascinating underwater world of Madeira.

Diving Base Funchal
The two diving schools in Funchal are located in the Pestana Carlton and Pestana Palms hotels, but are also accessible to non-hotel residents.
The dive centers are characterized by individual attention and the central location between the wrecks and the National Park. Both dive centers are located in the Eco-Park Funchal and have their own Hausrif.
The introductory diving takes place daily (closed in the winter months on Sundays), duration approx. 2.5-3 hours: theory - dive in the pool - dive in the sea.

Diving Base Caniço de Baixo:
A family atmosphere and a professionally run dive center are our characteristics. Because of a high tecnical standard of the equipment and the highly qualified instructors, the diving base, which has been already founded in 1982, is the only ISO certificated diving base in the Atlantic and has already won 7 times the price as "Best diving base in the Atlantic".
You will dive in Europes unique house riff in the nature reserve of Madeira. Due to the warm water of the Gulf Streem you will find a wide variety of species. Dive with barracudas, trigger-, parrot-, trumpet- and pufferfish and encounter manta rays and skates. May be it´s the beginning of a great passion.

Diving Base Reis Magos (Caniço de Baixo):
The diving center in Reis Magos (Caniço de Baixo) is a small family business, which offers individual support under the motto "relaxed diving and no mass handling". The diving base has already been awarded twice as "Best diving base in the Atlantic".
The diving base in Caniço de Baixo is located on the promenade of Reis Magos directly at the underwater national park. It is not connected to any hotel and is pubicly accessible and therefore also ideal for family members who do not want to go diving. Along the 700m long promenade are 8 versatile dive sites with max. 29meters.

Diving Base Calheta:
This diving school is situated in the sunny south west of Madeira, directly on the golden sand beach of Calheta. The beach offers a perfect entry into the sea. Many of the more than 25 diving spots in this area also reached after a short boat trip. The well-preserved wreck of the "Bom Rei" is a special dive site. In the summer months the sighting of hammerhead sharks is possible.
In addition to the diving spots in the south-west of the island, the diving school also offers trips to the underwater nature reserve of Garajau. This diving base is ideal for parents with children who have the best access to the sea. In Calheta there are 2 hotels, several restaurants and a marina, so that you can enjoy the holidays next to the diving.
The Discover Scuba Diving is daily from May to October, in the afternoon. First theory with a dive in the pool and if you want a dive in the sea. Duration about 2 hours: theory - dive in the pool - dive in the sea from the boat (max. 20min.)
